Commissions

Commission Information - Moin's Character Sculptures

I'd be honored to be considered for the creation of a special piece or even a group/family set! I pride myself on taking a very communication-heavy approach with commissions so that I can guarantee that you will receive exactly what you wanted. Please read below to learn more about my process and what you can expect from collaborating with me. :)

Don't play board games? No problem!

Being an avid board gamer is certainly not required! Although my character pieces were originally made to be custom tokens for board games, I'm flexible! My pieces are small enough to place inside of a shadowbox or display openly on a shelf. They are lightweight enough to hang from your rearview mirror, or even on a Christmas tree. I've completed wedding topper comissions, pet sculptures, and even baby/toddler mementos for new mothers. Some of those were used as little knickknacks in the baby's room, and some of those were turned into Christmas ornaments.

The Basics

You will receive a physical sculpture (approximately 1¼ - 1½ inches tall). The sculpture will be made with polymer clay and sealed with a polyurethane finish to give it a polished, professional look. If your desired character wears glasses, the frames will be made with wire, and the lenses will be made with clear UV resin. If your desired character is younger (child, toddler, or baby sized), the size of the finished piece will be smaller as I scale down the size of all of the body parts.

Commission Availability & Timeline

I typically welcome commissions anytime, but my availability is best from January through early November. The timeline for a fully custom piece is typically 1-2 weeks, but I do strive to finish and ship sooner when my workload permits.

My Process

First I'll request your reference photos (if possible) or a detailed description of what you’d like. Your references stay private and are only used to sculpt your piece. Often at this beginning stage, I'll ask followup questions for various details about the piece so that I can make note of them for later steps.

Once I have the details and payment confirmed, I start with the character’s body, baking it before adding the first clothing layer. Layer by layer, I’ll build up clothes and details, checking in with you after each layer with progress photos, and incorporating your input along the way. I do not make each layer permanent until you are satisfied with it. My goal is to ensure you’re 110% happy with the piece before it even ships, so don’t hesitate to point out anything that feels off—I’d much rather fix it mid-process than after it’s baked!

Once the sculpting is done, I’ll add any final details with acrylic paint, seal it with 2-3 coats of sealer for a polished finish, and send you final photos in natural lighting so you know exactly what to expect when you open your mail.

Pricing

For now my pricing is a flat rate of $100 per character, which includes shipping within the US. A fully custom piece takes me an average of 5-7 hours of active work time depending on the difficulty of the piece. I do track my work time using an app, so if you want to know the final work time of your piece at the end, you are welcome to ask.
